Thanks to Chuck Zeiler for putting me on the right track to finding the lineage of the 2nd unit in this photo. It is indeed an ex-GN GP20 with the high short hood of a long-hood-first configuration. The folks at greatnorthernempire.net confirm that GN GP20 2009 did become BN 2009 - don't have a date on that though - and wore cascade green until being sold to Naparano Iron & Metal on 6/27/1986. So that means there was no road number 2009 on the BN roster at all between June 86 and March 1990 when BN GP20 2037 - formerly CB&Q 901 - was re-built to a GP20C and re-christened #2009. Kinda fun digging all that up. |
