Album Info:Although I grew up in a town served by the Southern, I find haven't a great lot of photos to show for it. Still, here are a few from the 1980's in various Southern Illinois locations.

Description:  Not a great photo, but one of the few I have from this location. Noticed on the interactive map that Shiloh Station shows as a photo location, but with no photos (guess there were at one time...?). Anyway, this is Shiloh Station - give or take a couple hundred yards. The town of Shiloh is a few miles north of here and there may well have been a station here once upon a time, but as of the early 80s, there was nothing here but farmland and scrub timber,

Description:  The eastbound local rolls through Belleville. The vantage point for this shot was the embankment for the overpass of the L&N line through town. L&N is gone, but the overpass is still there - these days used by St. Louis Metrolink LRVs.
