Album Info:I have not had very many opportunities to venture north of the border - and that is really too bad as I have thoroughly enjoyed each visit. I do, however, have some mementos of these occasions in the photos here presented. You will note that a lot of these - probably most - are from a single day spent at Bayview Jct, Ontario in the summer or 84. Fair to say I particularly enjoyed that spot. It's enough to make a guy kind of like all things Canadian. So I hope you enjoy these pics - I think I'm gonna go have a beer and a pie.

Description:  Saw several things at Bayview that Id never seen in person before: MLW locomotives, Alco PAs, extra flags, even RDCs. But all this black smoke - that kind of reminded of ICG back home.

Description:  As evidenced by the deep shadows, this was quite late in the day. I had spent the entire day at Bayview Jct and only realized at this point that there was an actual view of a bay...(duh). I do not know what number train this was, but its a late commuter departing Hamilton for points east.

Description:  A woefully under exosed photo, but its not like I have a bunch of TH&B shots to pick and choose from. I recall this unit idling on a track immediately adjacent to a public park - no fence, no security, no sign of any railroad activity near it. And nobody messed with it. Things were definitely different railfanning in Canada.

Description:  So Conrail had some run-through or trackage rights on the CN between Buffalo and Detroit. Makes sense - shortest rout would be through Ontario. The local guys thought it was cool catching Conrail blue at Bayview, but it kind of bummed me out - not what I wanted to see in Canada. But then I noticed this guy right in the middle of that blue lash-up...

Description:  So youd think that if I recorded the number of a passenger train, I would likely have jotted down the name of it as well. You would be wrong. I know this was train #83, but no clue what the name might be. So if anybody knows what name VIA #83 went by in the summer of 1984, lay it on me.
